FOOD EVENTS AND FESTIVALS TO VISIT WHEN COMING TO CHIDEOCK
Each year Laurie and I get very excited about the ‘food festival season’. We have some great food festivals right on the doorsteps of both Gingerbread Cottage and Chiddy Nook.
Here are some of our favourites:
BRIDPORT FOOD FESTIVAL 11 – 17 June 2017 : Bridport Food Festival showcases the amazing food locally produced in and around the Bridport area. There are many of stalls offering samples of their fayre, so you can taste before you buy! During the Bridport Food Festival Week there are Cooking Demonstrations by local award winning chefs. The chef I always love to watch is Helen Choudhury from the Taj Mahal in Bridport. Palmer’s Brewery are offering tours of their site and Leakers are offering tours around the Bakery. Do head to the Leaker’s Tea Tent on the Saturday and you’ll find me serving tea and delicious home-made scones, cream and fresh strawberries!
DORSET SEAFOOD FESTIVAL Sat & Sun 8th & 9th July 2017 : Dorset Seafood Festival is situated around the historic harbour in Weymouth. You can spend the whole day sampling different fresh fish dishes from the shores local to us and drinking Pommery Champagne, now doesn’t that sound just perfect! Learn more about the fish that comes from the sea close to where we live, how to fillet fish, how to cook the fish. More importantly learn about responsibly sourced fish from our region and the necessity to fish in this manner. There is lots of family entertainment throughout the day. Money raised at the Dorset Seafood Festival goes towards the Fishermen’s Mission charity.
DORSET FOOD & ARTS FESTIVAL Sat 5th August 2017 : Dorset Food & Arts Festival is always at the beginning of August to celerate the Queen Mother’s birthday and is held in the Queen Mother’s Square. You get free entry into the Festival which starts at 9am and finishes at around 9pm. The day has something to offer everyone with so many stalls. Tasty Dorset food is on offer from many local suppliers and growers, local Art & Crafts from the many talented people around the Dorset area and listen to the local bands and singers. This festival has it all and that’s why its one of our favourites.
